February News

The Women of Friendship met on January 11, 2012 for the first meeting of the New Year. There were 22 in attendance along with Pastor Brad Thie. Many things were on the agenda and many plans were made for 2012.

Angie Sherrill presented the program “Taking Christ’s Humility – Only through the Holy Spirit.” We were reminded that foul words and thoughts should never come out of our mouths because they are cruel, hurtful, and can never be taken back. She shared Exodus 16:8 and James 3:7-8 No human tongue can be tamed.

Upcoming Calendar Events:

February 8, 2012 Rhonda Parker will speak at our monthly meeting. She will be speaking on Last Will and Testaments, Estate Assets, Different types of estates, and Procedures and steps. Please mark your calendars for this. This is such an important topic that we would like to invite not only women, but men, parents, and adult children to hear this.

Shirley Sherrill is looking in to have a World Day of Prayer Service here at the Church on March 2, 2012. More information will be available in the bulletins and in your weekly emails.

March 6, 2012 we will again host the March monthly meeting and supper of the DFL ministries at 6:30pm. We will be serving homemade soups and sandwiches with desserts. If you can help with this evening, please contact Shirley Sherrill, Debbie Tibbs, or Annette Gilbert.

Friendship’s United Methodist Women’s Sunday will be April 15th. Someone will be contacting you to ask for your participation. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve on that day.

Cookbooks, Friendships Favorites, are still available for sale. See Debbie Tibbs before and after the 8:30 service in the Family Life Center and Beverly Muse before and after the 11 service in the overflow area where the mailboxes are located. The cost is $12.50 each.

Also, please remember that suffering does not look at the calendar; donations are accepted all year long in the room downstairs. Be sure to label where your donation is to go. A workday to clean and organize the upstairs of the Family Life Center will be announced a little later, however, if you or your group had items up there that can be removed before the women get there to clean and organize, please see what you can do.

Since Friendship is trying to be as Green as possible, we are looking into a means of collecting old batteries so that they do no end up in the landfills. If you have a suggestion, please let one of the ladies know.

Thank you so much for all of your efforts around the church so far.
