Over the last eight months, we have made a transition in worship that I am sure you have noticed, a transition affecting both worship services: At 11 AM, it is our desire to worship God through the Traditional hymns and liturgy of the church. You may have noticed the weekly profession of faith, typically the Apostles’ Creed, the Gloria Patri, the Lord’s Prayer and for the last two weeks, a hymn sing at the beginning of each service.

At 8:30 AM, we made a transition to the Family Life Center (FLC) in January. This transition allowed us to utilize the beauty of the FLC to host Contemporary Worship. We offer refreshments, utilize the new projector and screen, and have space for a full band to lead us in worship. At both services, we are offering communion frequently, believing that this frequent offering of communion is God’s design for our church. Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper with bread and wine, representing his body and blood. Communion forms us together as the body of Christ.

In working with our Music Director, Organist, and musicians, it is simply our desire to worship God “in Spirit and in truth” (John 4.23-24). In case you are wondering where I stand on worship, I am simply for all worship that exalts the name of Jesus and is true to the God revealed in the Old and New Testaments. I am human and I make mistakes and even sin as I go through the process of preparing, planning, and leading worship. But my deepest desire is that we honor God during out time of worship in a spirit of prayer, devotion, and excellence.

Please know that each time I see your face in worship, your presence is a precious gift to me as your Pastor. Please pray for our Worship ministry: ushers, greeters, hospitality, sound and media technicians, lay leaders, Sonquest, nursery, Trustee watch, musicians, communion stewards and for me as we plan, prepare, and worship each week.

Finally, pray about someone you can invite to worship. The people who have transformed our church the most are the ones that you have invited to Friendship, because you believed in our church and our mission. Peace and grace, Brad

It is a pleasure to serve you,
Pastor Brad
