Upcoming Events
There will be a Beth Moore Women’s Bible Study entitled Here and Now...There and Then which is the study of Revelation. This will be an 11 Week study which will start February 6th at 6:30pm with orientation. The workbooks are $10. I encourage you to invite your friends and make time for the study of scripture in your new and lasting friendships, which are made, as we reach out to study God's word.
ALL UMYF-Youth Students are invited to The Study of Romans with Pastor Greg. This group meets on Wednesday evenings in the Library from 7-8:00pm. We invite grades 6th-12th and their friends in “doing life together”.
The God of the universe is crazy about you! His love is the most powerful thing in the world and He wants to give it to you, so you can live for Him. If you have made a commitment to follow Christ, then you are encouraged to attend this 12 week study to be reminded and challenged in your walk. Study group will meet on Tuesdays from 7-8:30pm. Book/Workbook Combo $18.
Disciple III-This 16 week transformative bible study will focus on the 13 letters of the Apostle Paul, contained in the New Testament. Class offered Mondays from 7-9pm. Workbook purchase necessary.
*As always, scholarships are available for small group fees. Inability to purchase materials should never hinder your willingness to learn God’s Word. Please contact Pastor Brad if you need assistance.
FOR OUR VETERANS OF THE CHURCH -There will be a 'Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Celebration' on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 9:00am-4:30pm at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. It is being hosted by the USO of North Carolina. Tickets are free and friends and family are invited. Several events are planned for the day and the crowd is expected to reach 50,000. If you have any questions or would like to go, please contact Dianne Huffman. Let's give a belated 'WELCOME HOME' to our Vietnam Veterans.

2012 World Day of Prayer
On Friday, March 2, we will have the gift of having a presentation on Israel from Bob Simpson. Bob has made repeated trips to Israel and will have an informative presentation. Please join us at 7 PM as we celebrate World Day of Prayer 2012.
A Hot New Idea
Recently, the Trustees, with the support of the Finance Committee and Church Council, installed an area heating and cooling unit in the Fellowship Hall. The purpose of the installation was to address long-standing concerns regarding the heating and cooling of this specific area. Prior to this installation, the area could not be heated or cooled without heating or cooling the sanctuary, which was obviously inefficient and expensive. We also discussed ordering new chairs and tables for the Fellowship Hall, which will occur in the near future, once an appropriate vendor is sourced.
You may also have noticed that an angel flew through the kitchen, cleaning and organizing. So, we are asking that when you are requesting a facility to remember, that our standards call for the Fellowship Hall to be used for a group of 25 or less, and the Family Life Center be used for groups of 25 or more.
There are several reasons for this Trustee policy:
1. The Family Life Center runs off of four heating and cooling units, and the Fellowship Hall will now be able to be heated or cooled with one area specific unit. This is obviously a stewardship issue, related to energy costs, and long-term costs for unit replacements.
2. Our Custodial staff has seen increased demands on their work related to use of multiple buildings.
3. Our energy bills are rising, which we have understood as exciting, as it means that more ministry is taking place in our buildings. However, with an expected increase in energy rates in 2012, we have to be good stewards of God's money.
Exceptions to this policy will be made when there are needs such as using the recreational equipment in the Family Life Center, Praise Team practice which is facility specific, and events which may require the Kitchen Equipment in the Family Life Center to be a success. As you schedule your meeting, ministry event, or family get together, we are asking that you remember these guidelines when requesting a particular facility. There are also donation amounts listed on the forms that are associated with facilities use for non ministry events. These donation amounts help pay for the utility costs generated by the particular event. As always, facilities use requests can be found outside the Church Office which is in the main building on the sanctuary level.
Please allow at least 10 days for your event to be scheduled. Thanks for your generosity to Friendship Church which allows us to provide such beautiful facilities to our members and guests.
