Just as Jesus came to serve, we hope that you will follow His example by serving in one of the many church ministries.  Serving not only brings you closer to our Lord but provides an opportunity to meet your fellow Christians.  There are many ways you can serve at Friendship.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY:

Volunteers needed to keep nursery (for ages newborn - 2 years old) on Sunday mornings for both services; Children’s Church (for ages 3 - 6 years old) workers for Sunday’s; Big kids' church (for ages 3-12) on 2nd and 4th Sundays; Volunteers to work on seasonal and ongoing children’s activities (Vacation Bible School, Easter egg hunt, Christmas program, Fall festival, etc.)  Contact Jennifer Gonzales. 

MUSIC MINISTRY:

Volunteers needed to lend their voices to the music ministry of Friendship. If you have a song in your heart, join the Adult Choir, Praise Group, or sing a solo or duet.  Adult Choir practice is on the 1st, 3rd & 4th Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM.  Praise Group practice is every Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM.   Contact Marie Hitzemann

ADULT & CHILDREN'S HANDBELL CHOIRS:

Open to all interested.  The Children's Handbell Choir is for all age children. Contact Shirley Sherrill.  The Adult Handbell Choir meets Thursday evening at 6:30 PM for practice, seasonally.   Contact Dianne Huffman, Chairperson. 

YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES:

Be on a dream team for planning, hosting and participating in activities for singles, couples or anyone young at heart.  Contact Jacky & Brian Price, Chairpersons

ADULT MINISTRIES (BABY BOOMERS & BEYOND):

We have a great group of seniors and we need You!!!  If you would be interested in being a part of this group, please sign up.  We are open to someone leading or assisting in a daytime Bible study, planning trips and fellowship gatherings.  Contact Frank & Dianne Huffman or Beverly Muse. 

YOUTH MINISTRIES:

Volunteers needed to work with our youth director to help chaperone trips and youth functions.  You can also help coordinate and plan programs and gatherings.  We need help with decorations for special events and transporting youth to functions.  Also, need someone to assist with Sunday School classes and bi-monthly youth meetings.  Contact Church Office.  

CHURCH AND SOCIETY MINISTRY:

Volunteers are needed at ECCCM (Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministries) when it is Friendship’s turn or any time you can help.  During the Christmas season, plan to take an “angel” from the Salvation Army Angel Tree.  Be a participant in the ECCCM food drives that Friendship has on every 4th Sunday.  Contact Crystal Williams. 

Be a blood donor or assist with the Red Cross Blood Drives throughout the year.  Contact the church’s coordinator, Thelma Sherrill 

Help deliver “Meals on Wheels”. Contact Mike Rutledge. 

EVANGELISM MINISTRIES:

The Evangelism Committee has seen the need to reach out to our first-time visitors and let them know of our concern and love for them by sharing with them a physical token of that love.  Through a mug ministry, mugs are given to our first-time visitors after the worship service in our “Visitor Center” in the back of the Church. MISSIONS MINISTRY:

Volunteers should be willing to take Christmas stockings to fill for the Salvation Army.  Volunteers may also go on a building team locally or abroad and help with various fund raisers for mission teams. Contact Gelene Saunders.  Be a “Go Ye Club” partner by committing to financially support missions.  Contact  Bob Drum

WORSHIP MINISTRY:

There are various duties within this ministry: Be an usher and help with the offering.  Be a greeter as parishioners enter and exit the church sanctuary on Sunday mornings.  Assist in decorating the sanctuary for special events/occasions.  Assisting the pastor with communion and help prepare it before the service.  We need some strong arms to help carry full communion trays upstairs.   Contact Debbie Hermance, Chairperson

ADMINISTRATIVE:

Volunteers needed to assist the Church Secretary with the Newsletters, bulletins, and general administrative duties.  Contact Brad Thie or Angela Dean

MULTIMEDIA:

Be an assistant with the media of our church.  Volunteers needed in the Website team to help with it's maintenance.  Contact the church office .  Sound system and Power Point volunteers needed.  Contact Roger DeCato.

SMALL GROUP MINISTRIES:

Would you like to participate in or be a facilitator for a Small Group Bible Study class?  Would you consider being a host/hostess for a group to meet at your home?  We have various Bible Studies available.  Contact Monica Robinson

In conjunction with Abernethy Laurels, we are offering grief recovery support group through a program called “Griefshare.”   Contact Pastor Brad. 

EDUCATION:

We need volunteers to assist in ministry with college students.  Contact Kim Hefner. 

Volunteers needed to assist with organizing and maintaining the Church Library located in the Spiritual Life Sunday School Classroom.  Contact Juanita Setzer. 

Would you like to teach, assist or substitute in a Sunday School classroom?  Contact Darren Hefner, Sunday School Superintendent 

Become a lay speaker trained by our conference staff to speak in local and district churches.  Contact Pastor Brad. 

COMMUNICATIONS:

Volunteers are needed to assist in bulletin boards, outside sign ministry and with newspaper advertisements for special events.  Contact the church office.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN:

The ladies of the church meet every 2nd Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM with light supper.  Interesting discussions and meetings on how to be ladies of the church themselves and in turn be better Christians for the Lord, church, family and community.  The ladies also take turns with food committees when there is a death or special need.  The women collect money for several missions both nationally and locally.  Contact Pam Rutledge, President

UNITED METHODIST MEN:

The men of the church meet every 3rd Sunday morning at 7:30 AM with guest speakers on topics that are informational both personally and for church functions.  A weekly prayer group meets each Wednesday morning at 6:30 AM. Contact Jeff Tibbs, President

HEALTH & WELFARE MINISTRIES:

Volunteers are needed to set up tables, help with refreshments and take and record blood pressures on the first Sunday of each month. Contact the church office.

NURTURE MINISTRY:

Be an active member of the Lay Ministry Team.  The members make contacts to our long and short term care concerns, new members of Friendship, and visit those that are sick or homebound.  Training will be provided.

MAINTENANCE/UPKEEP/TRAVEL MINISTRIES:

We need folks to help keep our church grounds and facilities in great shape.  Each year we have work days for cleaning and organizing.  We need your support. Volunteers are needed for the Trustee Watch program to patrol the church grounds and parking lot each Sunday from 10:30 AM – 12:00 noon. Bus Drivers with current CDL licenses are needed in transporting members of the congregation to various events and mission trips. Vehicle Maintenance workers are needed to help in maintaining vehicles of the church. Contact  Frank Huffman, Trustee Chairperson or Jimmie Sherrill
